Tara Kamangar

About

Pianist and composer Tara Kamangar has been described as a "huge talent" by London's Evening Standard and "a world-class pianist who excels at blending the best of Western and Middle Eastern compositions" by Gulf News. Her repertoire ranges from the standard classical canon to rarely-heard works by Iranian composers, and she has incorporated Kurdish folk music into her own compositions. Her album "East of Melancholy" debuted in the top twenty of the U.S. classical iTunes chart and was reviewed as "an alluring compilation...rendered with passionate, soulful conviction" (New York Times,) "an exquisite album" (NPR,) "Intellectually and inspirationally, a captivating recital" (American Record Guide,) and "Spellbinding...Miss Kamangar has full command of the keyboard" (Audiophile Audition.) A versatile artist, Tara is the pianist and violinist for the urban-classical project Triptyq, whose first single reached No. 2 on the iTunes classical charts. Tara is an honors graduate of Harvard and London's Royal Academy of Music.
