What each of us brings to the court is as important as whether we win or lose the game.

Even the most famous and accomplished tennis pros know that they have to master their mental game.

When you feel great, you play great (whether you win or lose). Period.

Adeline’s Story

When I started playing tennis in 2006, I was overweight, out of shape, and looking for exercise I could fall in LOVE with.

Tennis hit all the right notes: outdoors, competitive, fast-paced – and the outfits were cute!

Soon my outfits looked even cuter, as I began to shed weight effortlessly. This turned out to be simply a happy by-product of discovering a new sport I absolutely loved.

And when I love something, I am fiercely protective of it.

Not long after I fell in love with the game, I noticed that the available clothing (even at luxury prices) didn’t highlight anyone’s best features, particularly those of us who were over 40.

If it had sufficient coverage, it was too heavy. If it was light and comfortable, it was unflatteringly revealing. If it was designed for fashion, it didn’t function (and vice versa).

So, I began envisioning a tennis dress that had it all.

A flirty and functional dress that could make me and my tennis sisters (especially those of us over 40) feel like a million bucks – like a movie star on the court. Something we could love just as much as we loved the sport!

I’ve never met a challenge I couldn’t solve. So, without a background in fashion design, I taught myself everything I needed to know to design and fashion my own dress.

I called it the “Monroe” – after Marylin, the quintessential icon of classy sex appeal.

The pattern accentuated my hourglass figure, with a flattering scoop neckline, ruching through the waist, a ruffle at the hem, and the most unique feature: a two-ball net pocket sewn onto the back (so I could go from court to cocktails without having stored sweaty tennis balls in my shorts!).

The minute I showed up on the court in my custom creation, people wanted to know where this fabulous, flattering, functional dress came from – and a brand was born.

One dress at a time, I began to create bespoke orders for my clientele. Word traveled quickly, and (and hundreds of thousands of dollars and learning multiple hard-won lessons later…) I found myself at the helm of a full-fledged tennis apparel line.

Today, the Monroe is still one of ILMDP’s most popular designs. The collection has expanded, though, to include a full array of clothing, fine jewelry, luxury bags, and a variety of other accessories – all designed and created with the over-40 woman in mind.

Our clothing features:

Custom crafting, made in the USA and lovingly manufactured in small batches

And we continue growing!

Through our sister brand, Love Love Tennis, we also host exclusive tennis tournaments around the world, and are forming the premier National US Tennis League for women over 40.

All of our events focus on a true love of the game and appreciation of yourself and the other players – while offering luxurious, well-crafted clothing and accessories that make you feel like a movie star.
