Julia Rasooly

Iranian American Women Foundation would like to congratulate member Julia Rasooly on bringing the 2nd Annual Persian Tech Entrepreneurs (PTE) conference to Los Angeles on September 12th. Julia is a co-founder of Persian Tech Entrepreneurs, 501c(3) non-profit organization that fosters professional development for aspiring entrepreneurs of all cultural backgrounds with chapters in NYC, LA, SF, and DC. PTE assists entrepreneurs in building great companies by offering thought-provoking conferences, engaging networking sessions, hands-on workshops, a global mentorship network, and an active recruitment platform. The organization aims to highlight the significant achievements of entrepreneurs within the Persian American community, while serving as an inclusive platform that champions innovation. The conference will include renowned keynote speakers and informative, inspiring panels. IAW Foundation is proud to welcome Soraya Nazarian as our new Board of Trustee.

IAW Foundation would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest member of our Board of Trustees, Soraya Nazarian. Her extensive experience in philanthropy, founding the Y&S Nazarian Family Foundation (Los Angeles) in 2000, the Ima Foundation (Tel Aviv) in 2003, and the Soraya Sarah Nazarian Artists Initiative in 2011, speaks to her valuable insight in fostering out foundation's goals and mission. We are fortunate to have her join our ranks and look forward to her future participation and involvement.

Member Spotlight: Elahe Amani

Elahe Amani is a member of Iranian American Women Foundation, Director of Student Technology at California State University, Fullerton, and Chair of Global Circles of Women's Intercultural Network (WIN). Women's Intercultural Network is a global women network with consultative status with the UN Commission on the Status of Women since its inception 20 years ago. Its mission is to assure that all women and girls have a voice in their government and economy, by expanding the circle of their leadership. The newly established Iranian Circle of WIN (ICWIN) along with Afghan Women Circle, Uganda Women Circle & Circle of Women in Japan are extending a warm invitation to members of IAWF in San Francisco to attend WIN conference and the film festival. Dedicating an incredible 20 years of service to the Women's Intercultural Network, Elahe Amani will be moderating a conversation on peace and conflict at the WIN film festival, "50+ Films about Women That Will Change The Way You See The World," and conference taking place on September 12th and 13th; tickets and information can be found here.

Addendum:

IAWF would like to extend our deepest apology to Dr. Nayareh Tohidi. In our last newsletter, we mistakenly wrote that she is the founding Director of the Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies minor at CSU Fullerton. She is the founding Director of the minor at CSU Northridge.
